Hueco means 'hollow' or 'hole'. Perhaps another description would be an over-sized pocket. Hueco climbing holds can make a whole new set of movements possible. Depending on the particular hold in question, you may find yourself hanging sideways with both hands and one foot in the hueco, wondering what to do next. These holds can be incut, slopey, or both depending on which side you grab. Sometimes they can even function as pinches. Since you cannot fasten the hold to the wall from the center, they are a little more prone to 'spinning'. Like other big holds, a set screw, or a small hold placed next to it can eliminate this problem. If It weren't for all the huecos, I'm sure Hueco Tanks wouldn't be quite so popular!
